Investing Ideas - Where are you looking? How do you filter through the noise?
There is a lot going on right now and I'm personally having a difficult time digesting the different variables that are at play. I'm curious as to folks' playbook right now given the environment and their approach. I'd say in general, I am a believer in indexing and that beating the market is a fool's game for most. With that said, I think there is an opportunity here to pick up some very well run, strong businesses that are tanking due to the indiscriminate sell-off.
What are some key factors you are weighing? Is it a pretty basic approach "Screw it, I don't care what the company does, they are down 50% and all else equal the stock will be up 5 years from now"? "Buy the VOO and call it a day, I am here for the next 25 years?" Or are there specific sectors, fundamental financial characteristics (strong balance sheets and performance prior to sell-off), or other valuation techniques that you are using to filter through the noise?
Would love to hear ideas and how people are playing this!
