I do hope that if you plan to see a professional in regards to managing your wealth, you do proper research, beyond just posting a question on a forum. I'm not attacking forums, obviously it would be hypocritical considering a forum is the channel in which I would be doing so. I think forum's are great for getting other opinions and points of view, however I strongly encourage you do some preparing on what to expect when you see an investment professional.

I hate to sound like a paranoid skeptic, but you should be aware that many investment professionals will take advantage of the uninformed consumer. So one thing to look out for is the professional trying to steer you into bad investments, simply because they offer high fees for the advisor that sells you into them. For example, just take a look at the SEC website and how often they are finding corruption in the profession of investment advising.

Also, I have been following a radio show for years that focuses on this exact problem. The team behind the radio show have a wealth of information and even video interviews exposing the flaws within the financial industry. You can hear about this information at Crash Proof Retirement Show.

I find the interviews in which the radio host Phil Cannella interviews the former inspector general of the SEC about the trouble policing the financial industry.

Hopefully you take some time to prepare yourself for the dangers out there, because no one should take investing their wealth lightly.

I do hope that you realize that I'm not planning on investing my wealth with a professional. I'm preparing for an interview for a potential full-time role within the company. I do hope that you do proper research and understand what was actually posted next time beyond just posting a response to something completely unrelated.

I hate to sound defensive, but if you know a decent amount about WSO (which it sounds like you don't), you would realize that this is a great resource to obtain information about anything finance related, specifically the job search process for young professionals. Just because somebody posts a question on a forum about anything doesn't mean they don't do their own due diligence. The fact that they are on a forum at all should demonstrate that they are seeking the opinions of others out there as an additional form of information.

Not sure if this was just some lame plug attempt for that retirement show or whatever. I'll pose the question again: does anyone have any experience interviewing with an RIA?

LMAO

Your interview will consist of two themes. The first is how much do you know about finance...but not EV/EIBTDA type of stuff, more like what the markets are doing, or what each sectors of the SP are doing and why they might go up/down, what your opinion is on gold/greece, etc. Top down stuff.

The second, and more important for them, is whether you can bring in DA MONEY. this means they'll want to talk to you and see how rich your network is, how you plan on bringing in DA MONEY, and whether you can (and are willing to) cold call 12 hours a day.

thats pretty much it, simple stuff compared to other high finance positions

Hi

I know your interview was a while ago but could you shed some light on what kind of questions were asked?

I have an interview with a Private Bank for the role of an Investment Counselor? Its not a sales role rather to assist RMs on advising clients. Would appreciate your help.

PS: Currently working as an investment analyst at a Family Office.

Thanks
