Ironman Training

I realize that it's difficult to do given my current profession, but I'd like to train for--and complete--an ironman. I've done a half before (in college) and know HOW to train for the full, but I've encountered a bit of a roadblock. The biking and running are easy enough to train for. New York is relatively flat so I miss out on hill training, but I'm ok with that. I've encountered a problem, however, in finding an adequate pool to train in. Does anyone know of any decently-sized lap pools in the midtown east area (prefer something near the office)?

Note: I know I'm not going to go into the race and finish with an impressive time. My personal goal is sub-12, but ultimately am happy as long as I finish without ever stopping to rest (apart from getting in some food/water or bathroom breaks).

I never thought to ask about that part.....

Sub-12 would be a momentus accomplishment dude... Maybe you could talk with this guy...

he did it cold turkey more or less and finished in 15:30...

In terms of a solid lap pool I don't think I can help you out...

I posted in that thread and have the utmost respect for what the guy accomplished. It's a testament to his athletic prowess and, more than anything, extreme determination. However, you have to keep in mind that he barely did ANYTHING to prepare. Given his athleticism / drive, he could improve his time by a few HOURS with the proper training and equipment (his bike, for example, sucked--and trust me, it makes quite a different after a few hours on it). Completing an ironman in and of itself is commendable, but he could do significantly better if he put his mind to it.
