Is an MHA before an MBA worth it?
I am a first year consultant/associate in healthcare/tech at a top 10 consulting firm in the $80K salary range. I graduated from a top 10 undergrad (business/economics major) with a low GPA (3.4), but I took my GMAT last summer and got a 770 (Q50/V45).
I'm interested in the business of healthcare and hope to gain industry knowledge in a structured setting. So, I am thinking of applying to an online MHA, the UNC-Chapel Hill program in particular. I hope to use this to settle into the healthcare vertical in my current/another consulting firm before applying to B-school.
I definitely hope to get an MBA down the road - in the meantime, should I pursue the online MHA? Will it add value to my career/network/future salary/MBA admission? Is an MHA geared for someone of my background - or is it more for healthcare professionals? Will doing the program online help me pivot consulting firms/how is recruiting at MHA programs?
