LOL! I've actually witnessed someone saying an investment banker was a teller. Everyone around them just stared, and at that point I had no words for said person....

the sexiest occupations are obviously all outside of the business world.

within business i don't think IB ranks very highly at this point. sure it beats audit and corporate finance at a random fortune 1000 but still low in the high finance hierarchy. the reality is that many people today would consider working in tech, new media, VC, social enterprise, hot start-ups all to be sexier than most wall street jobs. i would agree with them.

-90% of hot women don't know the different between retail banking and investment banking (this is in NYC, the rest of the country it might be 98%). -The small percent that do have a good shot at being money grubbing leaches -Working 90-100 hours a week does unsexy things to your body

Tech is more sexy right now by a mile. Being an entry level programmer at Facebook will get you more action at the bar than having your own capital sleeve at a $10bn HF at 30.

I work in finance and think we are in a sort of Web Bubble 2.0. I want to barf when I see a bunch of dope-smoking hippies clad in Limited Too jeans, birkenstocks, designer knit caps, and non-prescription glasses talking about their social mission and profits don't matter while their busted startup is pawned off on a big-tech company doing stupid acquisitions. They ride off into the land of endless arcade fire concerts and poetry slams $50mm richer, armed with a sense of moral superiority.

Tech is way, way more sexy right now
