Is it all about the money?
What up wall streeters, quick question for all the future mitt romneys on here: is it all about the money? If its not about the money, is it about the prestige?
Haha. Obviously that was a TRICK question, rotfl. For me personally, it is about BOTH.
Ever since I was a child, I knew what I wanted to do: "Be a banker. Get mad bitches. Laugh at non targets. Enjoy the little things." Needless to say, we all do this now.
Anyways, its all about the money, right? If you work at UBS (state school) or Wells Fargo (Couldn't Get Into A Target), please don't respond.
Comments?
Thanks guys.
.
if there is a God, he is going to make you drink a few too many, get you pulled over for DUI, and get you sent up as a sex toy for the brothas.
well we are not all hardened salad-tossers like you. tuff guy!!!!!!!!
In my opinion, neither of those things are most important.
I only have to look to the higher-ups above me who have both money and prestige and are still miserable with their lives. I think money is a very good driver to propel you in your career, but ultimately we're talking about your life here. And what is going to matter is your happiness.
I notice the people who are most happy in finance are the ones who using their finance careers to ultimately propel them to something higher (Working for yourself on your own terms). And then there are those who are happy because they legitimately like what they do.. they don't care about the prestige all that much (maybe money some).
No, it's when idiots like you make a claim. I then laugh at your bull shit you tell your clients. Then I make an opposite trade.

Then I say thank you come again, please let me take more of your money, I enjoyed it!
Did you even go to college? This doesn't make any sense. Please stop trolling in my threads. Thanks bro.
Non-target just being a non-target. L o L
+1 blastoise
This is either a failed attempt at humor or ridiculously retarded. I hope someone on this site meets you in person so they can pimp slap the fuck out of you.
getting monkey shitted on a thread like this is a badge of honor.
I am a non target working hard to break in...
For me its about the experience, the industry, the work, the location (NYC), the living style.
On a small part its about the money but thats only because I would need to make enough to live off of..
I think everyone has their own reasons and I do believe there are many people that do it for their love/passion for the work and atmosphere while there are people who do it strictly for the prestige and money.
It is about what you do with the money. Mitt donates to charities and many rich people are philanthropist. It all comes down to your philosophy of what money is really worth.
blastoise > masterg
masterg > duffmt (worst contributer since RatinaMaze)
glad you are a fan
Melvvar, that was a pretty weak attempt at an insult, suggesting to me that you are in fact a salad-tosser, although probably of the fruitiest variety, one that couldn't handle a night in the local county jail.
To answer OP's question, of course it's about the money, but to a lesser extent it's also about making a positive impact on society, or to put it more softly: "Doing God's work."
It's about the little things.
touche.
It's not the money, it's the freedom that comes with money.
This is the worst troll attempt thread ever... OP KYS
Tony Perkins - who are you to be calling a troll? Rocking the moniker of one of Ben Stiller's worst characters ever (and that's saying a lot) and dropping lines from a D- movie (Fat Camp) like it's you job... give me a f'ing break. Instead of making weak comments that add no value and regurgitating weak movie lines, contribute to the conversation or at the very least attempt to say something funny like Blastoise does so eloquently/clumsily
Man you really do suck- who doesn't like Heavyweights?
Congratulations, Mr. Islandbanker. You are the fattest boy in camp.
You're so clever and witty, how can I be more like you?
Damn, nothing but lame, boyish sarcasm here. Looks like I"m the real Tony Perkins out of y'all. Get a clue boys - you're gonna need to lose the pounds if you want to lose the v-cards.
Who the FUCK is Tony Perkins? Did he start Perkins Restaurants or something? You know, the ghetto version of Dennys?
Imo the hardest industry to break into, and of course the $$ that comes with it.
masterg = islandbanker?
Manbearbig, I'm sorry but this is wallstreetoasis, not non target oasis. People who work at Deloitte aren't even supposed to post on here. Run along!
ManBitchPig, while masterg is a clever poster and I am flattered by the comparison, if you took two seconds you'd see that we are not the same person. duff stuff - get a clue and GFY bro.
Kinda strange those two posts were put up within 10 min of each other and have the same exact tone to them.
I have never understood trolls who aren't actually funny. What is the point?
Lol I'm surprised you managed to wait 9 minutes before posting with your other account. You seem like an impatient bitch. I'm in a giving mood though so if you're looking for a job, I can hook you up at Deloitte. I know you're dying to work here.
based on the flight of the shit, MBP has nailed it. need a new thread: connect the multiple accounts.
1) You're an ass.
2) I like Finance because I'm passionate about the subject. Money is mostly a byproduct.
Manbearpig, I wouldn't make my maid work at Deloitte.
Traderdaily, obviously it's all about the money.
Peace out!
Surprised nobody's given what I honestly thought was one of the most common answers... isn't it all about the game? Finance is an industry where your firm, your group, or just you yourself can tangibly measure where you "stand" in relation to other people. Can I beat the market? Can we close the deals that other people can't? Can we take advantage of an opportunity? Obviously being passionate about the subject matter is great but the thing that gives me the most enjoyment is the competitive aspect of being involved in a market full of people all trying to know more or be more creative than everyone else. The money is great and it's something you expect when you work as hard and sacrifice as much as you do on the job. But it's nowhere near a primary reason for being here.
woah - you managed to wait 2 hours this time! Now I'm convinced you're not the same person =P
its about being happy and satisfied. whatever it takes to be happy for me.
For me, I got into the game to wear suits and hit on chicks like any badass. "If I can't dress like a baller, I don't want to work there" has always been my motto when looking at new jobs.
Thoughts?
If you have to refer to yourself as a badass, your clearly not a badass. I image you wearing some poorly tailored swag, off the rack from Men's Warehouse...even though you'd never admit it. Of course your going to say something "witty" back to this post, but if you were really knowledgeable in your field then you would be contributing meaningful content and find your poor attempt at trolling as tiresome as the rest of us find it.
For the record, I go to a non-target, only spent 20k on my education and accepted an offer in a top tier slot. If feels damn good to know I slacked off in high school, paid less for my education, and ended up in probably a better spot than you currently sit.
.
Okay, maybe only 99% of it is about the money.
But the last 1% is definitely about laughing at non-bulge bracket folks like yourself. As my friends at GS/MS say, "Goldman/MS/JPM/BX or bust, bro."
Thanks guys for the insightful comments.
