Is it okay to include an upcoming position on your resume?

Hi there! I'm about to apply to a summer internship at an asset manager to help with equity research. I go to a target school, but my school has policy that all students attend school during the summer of their sophomore year. I'm currently a junior, so I just spent this past summer on campus with the rest of my class. This also meant that I couldn't intern anywhere this summer. However, I do have an internship this upcoming winter (everything about this internship has been confirmed, so it's a done deal) at another asset manager that will give me good experience.

I was wondering if it was okay to include a line about this internship on my resume under a "upcoming experience" section or something of the sort. I know it's work I haven't done yet, but I've had interviewers who don't know about my school's system ask me why I don't have any internships, so I feel as though including it in there will be important, especially because the internship is in asset management and a lot of the skills I'll learn over the winter will transfer over to the summer internship.

As long as I don't describe the internship too much and just state the position, firm, and time period, would it be okay to include this information? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Your best resource is your career center. I'm sure they've seen this dilemma literally thousands of times and can share best practices.

My opinion: it'd be a mistake not to include the upcoming internship on the resume. It demonstrates i) finance is more than a passing interest, ii) you've successfully interviewed for a position, and iii) you'll gain experience before you start in June.
