Is LinkedIn necessary in PE?

Hey everyone - trying to live a bit more lowkey so am deleting social medias. Am I good to delete LinkedIn, or will it end up being useful/necessary in PE? If it matters, there will be a sourcing component to my role as well.

Yes I'd say it is necessary.  I know I always get skeptical whenever I search for someone on LinkedIn and can't find their profile.  LinkedIn is a very annoying platform with all the stupid posts that float around on there these days (like a Facebook 2.0), so I never really spend time on it but I just maintain my profile for the public presence aspect of it.

Damn I dont have one yet. What do you usually look for on a profile, besides work experience and school? I know that on LinkedIn people can endorse certain skills and such, but not sure if that matters.

Not OP btw

LI is very useful for sourcing... you can reach out on there if the prospect is unresponsive via email, and can also see mutual connections who could potentially give you intel on the business or offer a warm introduction.

I also use it to ballpark scale (# of FTEs they have on LI v. benchmarks for their industry) and growth (are they hiring? How much and for what kind of roles?)
