is McCombs a semi-target in APAC

Hi,

I am considering MBA, just wonder if anyone could give some insights on McCombs MBA? Is McCombs a semi - target in APAC recruiting?

Thanks a lot!

No it isn't. They have plenty of top local schools to cover + think about all those asian kids at top ivies.

It really depends on what you want to do.

McCombs is a great MBA if you want to stay in Texas, if not, I would reconsider going there.

Ross is a higher ranked program but part time MBAs are a different animal and it depends what you want to do. If you want to do banking in Texas, McCombs is better. If you want to accelerate your career, a part time in general is better especially at a higher ranked program.

In 5 years from now the only thing that will matter is 1) where you got your MBA (not how) and 2) your post-MBA job.

More info is needed.

Do want to do corp fin at a F500? How many years of WE do you have? What was your UG? What are you doing now? Are you in the US? APAC? Etc...Etc....

If you're 2 years out of UG doing mid/back office work at a F500, a part time MBA prob isn't going to do it.

If you're 10 years out of UG doing mid/back office work at a F500 and a part time MBA will help you laterally move over, Ross may help but a lot of it is going to be up to you.

Most Helpful

If you want to do IB, you need to go full time. IB has a highly structured recruiting process and it's near impossible to pivot to that part time. If you want to take this track, I suggest applying to Johnson (possible) and Stern (stretch), as W/CBS/Booth may be difficult given your UG GPA.

If you want to do F500, there's a chance you can pivot via a part time program such as Ross, but it's more uncertain. Your other option is part time and try to move internally, maybe to an ER role at M S post-MBA. Again, a higher risk move than FT.  Part time (or maybe even EMBA) programs are easier to get into than full time and I would suggest focusing on all the finance focused schools.

What schools you should target is easy, how you want to do your MBA is up to you / your career goals.
