is Skype sufficient for Video Conference interviews?

I have an interview coming up and they requested a video conference. My school charges $80 to use a video conference room, and I was wondering if I can just use Skype (I have my own online number, so they would call that and I can do webcam).

Have anyone done video conferencing before? If so, is it just an interview using webcam/video?

Skype works fine as long as both sides have a webcam. Just make sure you do a dry run on the audio. Some computers have a built in mic and some need a headset, check what the case is with yours. You definitely don't want to show up to the party and be screaming into the screen because the other side can't hear you. Though it's by no means part of the interview, not being prepared can come in all shapes and sizes (or formats, in this case). Good luck and make sure you breathe deep and take your time answering, there can be a time lag depending on connection speed so you want to make sure you speak clearly and not rush anything. Best of luck.

Make sure the other guy has Skype too. $80 is unreasonable for a college student (that was my biweekly paycheck cleaning computers).

Make sure bandwidth is enough, go to Sounds: Audio--make sure the correct mic is selected (sometimes you have two). Go to Best Buy, buy a Skype HD camera for $60, use it, return it, pay the 15% overstock fee. There you go.

Make sure the interviewer has a video camera, has used and is comfortable with Skype, and, most importantly, do a test run for both audio alone and with video to ensure your internet connection is fast enough and allows for a smooth conversation of about an hour.

Thanks... I bought the online number and all they have to do is just dial in. However the recruiter wouldn't allow me to use Skype, I guess they never used it before and don't want to run the risk of something going wrong.

this reminds me of a important phone screen I did walking home from class. It was like 9 degrees outside and my phone goes off and he asks if I had a few moments I thought it would be to set up an interview but no went straight into it.
