Is the title of international human rights lawyer more glorious than investment banker?
I have always liked investment banking. However, over time, I have likened the title of international human rights lawyer to be much more prestigious and glorious than the title of investment banker. Does this mean my priorities have shifted?
Bro what are you even talking about. You have to go to law school if you want to be a lawyer.
Does it mean your priorities have shifted? Yes, if you make efforts to attend law school. No, if not.
Fuck that, being a banker gets you paid not some fancy title that underpays you for being a law school cuck.
So the goal in life should be getting paid more money?
Not as the end goal, but getting a seat at whatever table you're striving to sit at is almost always aided meaningfully by the acquisition of and access to capital.
I think Chamath's views on the topic are my favorite: "Get the money. Get the money, then let's get around a table and create new rules. Literally that's it. GET THE FUCKING MONEY."
idk about that. Although law school is three years and a bunch of money, for those who just aren’t number oriented individuals, big law is one of the best outcomes starting at 200k+.
To be fair I associate anyone who has 'human rights' or any other causes in their title/linkedin etc. to just be some ignorant kid who thinks he is better than everyone else and so half-heartedly assumes causes (but only in the first world where he'll get paid 6 figures working for billion dollar charities, never going to the third world where they might actually have an impact).
I don’t understand what you are saying. I think there are plenty of people “with the title of human rights on LinkedIn” that are making a commendable impact that you or me fail to make or will continue to fail to make. And I am sure none of them cares what you think of them. They are motivated by whatever they are fighting for. I think more positively about someone who did something proactive about a cause they support than someone who has been fixated only on his or her finance career, and there is nothing wrong with displaying the positive impact you made on a social networking site or being truthful about all you have done. One main purpose of LinkedIn is to show the world who you really are, and anyone who wants to be candid would list all the important things they care about on the public profile.

what the fuck kind of question is this lmao? I don’t think anybody makes a 50/50 tossup decision between intl. human rights lawyer or investment banker lol
How do you think a girl went from choosing nonprofit management to investment banking then? Baffling to me.
Spoiler: she didn't choose
Certainly a bigger scumbag.
what about prestige?
cringe at working in "international human rights"
If you want to marry George Clooney then maybe.
Who do you think Bill Burr hates more: Bankers or Lawyers?
