Is there any Indonesia Finance Mentor ?

Hi,
I am final year finance student who like to get a job in IB/PE/CF/CO but I know nothing about the practical job in that field. I feel like my school didn't really teach about the important things about the practical skills instead just mumbling about math derivation of theories which is very easy to forget.

What should I do? Is there anyone here kind enough to be my mentor ?

My advice is to read a lot of books and keep up with the market news. IB scene in Jakarta are pretty thin since most of the deals ran through HK/SG.

Try to get an internship ASAP (Especially if you're writing your graduation thesis, you're going to have a lot of downtime) in the securities companies. Leverage your alumni and campus job center network and try to find any alumni that works in IB.

By my knowledge Mandiri Sekuritias (State-owned IB firm) has always been recruiting for an internship. So good luck and keep hustling.

Hi, Thank you so much for writing that reply. I do currently writing my thesis and looking for Internship. I have been applying to Fidelitas advisory, but i get no response. Although I never find out that Mandiri Sekuritas opening for internship.

I will try to read as much as I could as you suggested. Thanks for reply.

I forgot to also mention that getting into IB in Indonesia aren't very linear and specialized. So getting internships that's non-IBD but still counts as Finance (Transaction Advisory, Audit, or even some Consulting specialization) will still be considered.

Also work on getting your CFA/CPA/FRM designation, it'll require another year of intense studying but those designation will get you very far career wise.

Hi, thanks for your comment, I end up in Corporate banking, as an Mgt Trainee. eeven though I do not get the IB job/consulting job. I guess having this opportunity is a good start to have an exposure to finance professional job. What do you think?
