Is this suit appropriate at a business formal investment bank?

What I'm concerned about isn't the color, but rather the herringbone texture/design (close-up in the third link). What does the forum think?

Thanks in advance!

There's nothing wrong with herringbone. Clothiers make braces and tuxedos with herringbone knits. The color is fine too, but I have no idea how it will fit you, whether or the suit is fused or canvassed, and what the quality or origin of the wool is. Do you know? I'd have to assume based on the price point that the jacket is almost certainly fused, and probably lower thread count wool (super 100's or so) but these are things you might want to ask the seller.

As an aside, if you don't have much experience buying suits on eBay, I'd be careful. Seems strange to buy something like a suit without buying it on unless you know the seller.

I think the design is fine.

Ok, it's herringbone, but it's pretty understated and neutral, so I really wouldn't worry about this.

bankers don't usually carry magnifying glasses so you should be fine! :)

i second numi, I would never buy a suit without trying it on first, but it's up to you

When buying a suit there a two things to concern yourself with. The first and most important is fit. If your suit doesn't fit than don't even bother wearing it. A man in a $500 fitting Men's Warehouse suit will look better than a man in a $5,000 ill-fitting Brioni. Get a suit that fits, i.e., don't buy a suit on the internet. The second point of concern is the fabric. However since you're considering Ebay I'll skip right over it and tell you to buy a suit that fits.
