Is This What Client Pitches Actually Look Like? Filmed Client Pitch
I was watching the cringy recruiting video made by Solomon Partners which apparently shows the day in the life of a PJS analyst, and in the video they included a clip of a client pitch that they filmed in their offices. I was wondering if this is what an actual client pitch looks like. I am an incoming intern at a BB so I so I've never seen an actual pitch, but I had the assumption that pitches would be conducted at the client's office rather than the bank's own office.
Was also curious to know if juniors usually talk for a good amount in client pitches? I had always assumed that junior analysts won't speak that much in client pitches, but in the PJS vid the analyst seems to play a big part in the pitch. Here's the link to the video (the pitch occurs at the 1:20 mark):

For those of you too lazy to copy/paste the video, i included a gif of the pitch portion of the video
Wow despite all those great words they used to describe PJS he still decided to leave to a $2bn (L?)mm PE fund I've never heard of.
Super cringe video.

What is accurate is how at the end it seems to be night time / dark already and he says "time to get some work done finally" on a Friday evening.
Super cringe video.
Someone really did their homework on this guy. Take it easy
Chill out man, not everyone's dream is to work at a MF like u it sounds like. I'm sure he enjoys his WLB more at the $2bn fund and still gets paid well...
You seem like a really cool guy. Relax buddy you ain't a big deal either. Imagine hating on someone you haven't met because you deem their company as not prestigious enough. Do you also hate plumbers and truck drivers??
Despite his exit, the exits at Solomon recently have been top tier, comparable to the exits you’ll see at most EBs with MF exits
i swear i networked with this dude
Greg is a chiller
Think that was his name. He was definitely chill on call, I fw him.
I think I spiritually connected with the “dynamic” dude lmaooo
Pre-covid IB doesn't look too fun
Lol no that's not how it goes, also this video is flaming garbage
Everything about the video is wrong. Always go to the clients office never have them at your office. Never sit all on one side of the table intermingle with the client. Never use PowerPoint stupid ass printouts, just talk and if need be take notes on a yellow pad. Go have beers afterwards.
I appreciate the energy this guy brought to the video. It's gotten hard as fuck to say anything positive about this job with a straight face. I'm sure this guy got tapped by recruiting to do this, and he got it done.
yeah for sure. For a corporate recruiting video this was actually pretty good and no BS like yoga and crap. They even included the banter and late night working.
Pretty sure I interviewed in that room - how the fuck they going to film IN their office and not show what is arguably the best view in Manhattan (can see all the way to the central park reservoir)
Edit - lmao at them, as group, pointing at the tombstone slide like its the code for facebook in The Social Network
damn he's a Vandy kid in CS.
These day in the life videos are seriously inaccurate. CS actually posted and it seems like deleted a similar video because it was getting roasted so much online.
To answer your questions:
- juniors absolutely do not speak on pitches and are almost never invited
- pitches are often at bank's office, I'd say 50/50 of client vs bank office
Also the filming/angle/energy of this video for some reason reminds me of terrible pornography
Can confirm, I watch a lot of pornography
So what would be more accurate scenes to include in a day in the life video? I mean they included scenes too of guys and gals just heads down working, but obviously that can't be the entire video.
A day in the life video in banking would be extremely bleak lmao
but better to advertise a different part of the business, or do a "how IBD works" type of video, instead of showing a completely untrue reality
.....
I enjoyed the video - not sure why it's getting so much hate. Yeah, clearly, the junior guy isn't going to be speaking at the meeting, but it's a recruitment video. I shuddered at seeing 4:52pm on a Friday on the lady's computer with the dude still being at work. Bad times.
The whole pitch is just juniors
nope, juniors don't say shit and are usually not even invited to pitches
