I've been networking and meeting new people... now what?
Hey guys,
A little background info: I'm entering my 3rd year at a semi-target in Canada and have a ~3.2 GPA. Not the best, I know...
But, I've been diligently making my daily cold-emails/cold-calls and have been getting good responses. I've already met quite a few people (MBB+Deloitte) over coffee and have more meetings approaching.
I plan on continuing to network until the remainder of the summer, after which recruiting season begins (for Deloitte, at least). In my opinion, I've built good rapport with most people I've met and will (hopefully) continue to do so.
My question: Once recruiting time approaches, how exactly should I ask these contacts to put in a good word for me? Or should I even? Should I try and schedule another meeting beforehand and ask them then? Or should I be tactful and assertive over emails and gauge their responses accordingly? Has anyone faced a similar situation before?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Definitely keep in touch when recruiting season is kicking off. Talk to them again, show you're still interested, and ask them how to best position yourself for the internship process/ask if they'd mind sending a copy of your resume to the right person.
I've heard many stories of people who had even lower GPA than you who networked like crazy and got many 1st round interviews so keep up the good work!
