JLL Analyst; how difficult/easy
I saw a post today that has been reposted for 3 months. JLL's REIB group is looking for an analyst. I am wondering how good at modeling and argus one would have to be to apply for this position? Would they expect you to learn some of the skills on the job or would they assume mastery of excel and argus from the get-go.
Any other information would be helpful.
PM me when you can
I've seen that posting as well. Asking 2-4 years RE experience with work proven Argus modeling required.. sounds pretty crazy for analyst position.
Why not just apply. If you get an interview, awesome! If not, at least you tried. Even if you aren't as good at modeling as you think you might need to be, just go for it!
Wouldn't be too worried about it. Their "REIB" position is really just an embellished name for a position within their Capital Markets Group which does investment sales, debt/equity placement, etc. They definitely will train you on the spot and familiarity with ARGUS is helpful but not imperative.
do you work in brokerage? Just curious
Nope - at an institutional investor, but had experience within a Capital Markets Group at a brokerage (JLL,HFF,Eastdil)
Someone who has strong excel/argus modeling skills is not going to apply for a role as an "REIB" Analyst. This is their debt, equity, and structured finance group. They work on raising money for financing, recaps, LP equity for dev deals on behalf of investors/developers. This is definitely a good place to kick off your career and see large deal volume.
Apply and take it from there. I am sure if you have basic modeling abilities and bluff your ARGUS skills, you'll be fine.
