JLL Commercial Real Estate Analyst Interview

Hey all,

I have an analyst interview set up with JLL in a major market in the SE. My background is two years resi mortgages at a large mortgage company HQ and one year at a regional CRE firm in Investment sales. I have not been in an analyst role prior.

Disclaimer, I am a little concerned on my modeling skills as I had taken intro excel courses in the past but haven't really utilized anything extensive in my current investment sales position. This asset class is one that I have had the least exposure to as well, any advice is appreciated. HR interview (which I expect to be relatively straightforward) is in a few days.

If you can afford it, REFM could be really helpful. Seeing as how the interview is in a couple days, I would buy the pack and make a run through all three of the sections as fast as possible, then go back and cherry pick the pieces that are most relevant to that role.

If I remember correctly, Level 2 is the most relevant to modeling a property. Level 1 has a lot of good stuff too, Level 3 is more for like an ownership type gig, like working at a REPE shop.

Makes sense, I had previously completed level 1 but stopped there I believe I still have that info. Level 2 is a different story, I am assuming I’ll have to do some form of modeling test if I get to that point.

Any types of questions I should bone up on? Glassdoor seems to indicate theirs minimal technical questions but I want to be prepared as I’m technically perceived as more advanced than a kid fresh out of college.

Your role at the end of the day is going to be 100% team dependent. Do you know what team it's with? Maybe see what they do in the market and find something from there.

HR interview went well it appears I will be looked at by two different teams and if they like me I will likely be placed from there. It’s probably wise to get more background info on their deals
