I've been searching for more information on JMP. Care to share a little more? (Did you apply through OCR? SF or NY? Is the comp street? Are you in a specific group?). Thanks

I don't work at JMP, but a good friend of mine does, in the SF office. Their best group by far is HC, with nearly 100% of the work equities. From what I can tell, it seems to be growing, but in terms of exit ops, it is nearly non-existent. In the last 3-4 analyst classes, no one has gone to PE/VC/corpdev, which forces the A-to-A promote.

They work in the Transamerica building in SF. Apparently their office is pretty nice. Around 20-30 bankers or so. As far as culture, people seems fairly chill. You definitely don't work banking hours. (I remember I got work off early on a Sunday a few months ago, and texted my bud for a drink. He wasn't even in the office all weekend). He mentions some people who are really hard to work with, but everyone probably does.

Pay is below street, bonuses are depressing. But if you compare it with the hours they work, it probably evens out. LinkedIn search shows they recruit mostly from semi-targets. If you want to stay in banking, JMP might be a good choice. If you have any interest in any exits or b-school, then I would probably pick some other group. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me
