Job Hunting - HELP - Need Advice! Lost and not sure what to do next

Hey all,

Currently on the interview circuit and having a little bit of a challenging time with it.

Have a bit of an untraditional path and would appreciate any help in finding my footing on what to be doing next. Ideally i'd love to be working as an associate in VC but thats realistically not going to happen right now.

Here's the high level of my work experience:

-FinTech Startup (Currently)
-Equity AM Research (Fund was restructured, juniors are cut)
-Operations Enterprise Software
-Prop Equity Trader (Prop Shop - Not BB)
-Commercial Banking Analyst (BB)

Need a job yesterday and having a bit of a tough go in my search. As i've mentioned, I have a bit of an untraditional background as I haven't spent anytime on the sell-side in ER or IB. An MBA is definitely in the cards but I just want to get back to work and am exploring my options without one.

Would be extremely grateful for any help from this forum on what to do next or how to think about my next move.

How many years of work experience do you actually have? You've really been all over the place in what sounds like a short time if you're still thinking about an MBA.

You left your post pretty open ended, so help us help you by giving us some more information. Other than VC, what interests you? What do you want to be doing? Why are you dissatisfied with your current role? What types of jobs have you been interviewing for?

8 years - I've unfortunately been a part of 1 too many restructurings due to smaller organizations.

Other than VC, i'm interested in general investing and helping to grow businesses - either through BD/Sales&Operations. I want to be investing or helping to grow businesses or even both essentially.

I'm pretty open, obviously VC is the dream/goal but its not VC or bust.

I'm dissatisfied with my current role from founder conflict and I don't see the company actually taking off.

I've been interviewing for roles in corp dev, venture, treasury, etc but i'm also casting a wide net

OK, in 8 years that's actually not crazy. I can't IMAGINE you can't land a job at an interesting start up or growth stage company in New York or the Bay (or a smaller city, for that matter!) if what you want is BD / Sales / Ops - and then ultimately potentially leverage that for a VC role (that's the dream, right?). But actually, doesn't sound like that's necessarily what you've been interviewing for (treasury? I'm confused).
