Job Market: Boston, Stamford, NY

In the past month I have began the process of applying to new positions within financial services, specifically I am looking for positions within S&T, and I have noticed that there are very few opportunities in the market. I am currently located in the northeast and after reaching out to my network they have confirmed my suspicions that the market is dry. What are you guys seeing out there in the job market right now, and what are the reasons for this trend?
