Job Market for Quants

Dear monkeys,

I am wondering how is job market nowadays for Quants in banks, hedge funds, or as a contractor for one of those, or others...

How are doing people straight out of Master QF on the market place for such positions ? What are most available jobs: developer ? quant trader ? models validation ?

In which area is it hiring ? Risk ? Derivatives ? Commodities ?

Which skills are the more desirable ?

How is it in the US / Europe / Asia ?

Would like to hear from your experience as a recent graduate Master Finance / Engineering who got into this sector.

Cheers

Thanks for the link. This is very valuable.

I don't fall into the MF graduate category with no experience, in the contrary. Hence my general question: how is job market in general, for people with MF or/and with experience ? is it hiring or the same dull as in 2010 ? which jobs can a financial engineer pursue ? is there high risk that job search is tedious ?
