Job Market in Three Years

I plan to pursue my MBA degree in a top school this fall and a career in strategy consulting upon graduation. I have heard that the economy is slowing down and a possible recession might hit in the next two years. I was still in middle school in 2008. Not sure if a recession will have a big impact on my job prospects upon graduation, especially the consulting job market?

Any advice will be much appreciated!

Thanks. Do you think its a better career path than IB for MBA candidates?

I don't think anyone has a crystal ball big enough to give you an answer so definitive that it makes your sure, and if someone makes you sure I would think twice.

I think it would make more sense to just to get the degree done as early as you can ( assuming you have some experience) to build up your knowledge and skill set.

As a consultant shouldn't you be telling me where the market is going?

I don't think consulting's revenues impacted as greatly as finance related or other industries. I remember going through recruiting and some of the strategy consulting firm showing the revenue through the recession and they didn't decline at all. It remained flat. Obviously not all consulting firm would've had same revenue impact but general consensus was that it was more stable than other professions...

I would imagine your project type would change to turnaround/cost related project during the recession. Hiring maybe different...
