Job Offer Rescinded Because of Expunged Records
So I will try to be brief here. I got a dream job offer with an investment bank. I was told that the offer was contingent on a background check, was asked if I had a criminal record, I responded no. Fast-forward 2 weeks and I just received a call that an expunged record from 4 years ago (an MIP) showed up on my record. The employer then accused me of lying when I said I did not have a record, even though the record says non-conviction and expunged, and rescinded the job offer. Do I have any options here? This happened about an hour ago I have no idea what to do.

I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
Just because your record is expunged doesn't mean legal docs are sealed from count/city records. An employer can legally use publically availble info from record to make a decision not to hire you. Go down to the county courthouse and make sure your records are sealed. Also check the national criminal databas e. Hire a lawyer if theyre not sealed.
So sorry man. Keep your head up - in a kind-of similar boat. Feel free to reach out if you need any encouragement talk. Been in the dumps myself but am moving forward.
Nothing you can do about it other than learn from the experience and move on
Is this a joke? They really rescinded an offer because they thought you were lying after your record was cleaned up for an MIP?? Jesus man I'm really sorry to hear that its absolutely ridiculous...
