Could have been Trump, as it could have been every year since 2016 because, like it or not, the world kind of revolves around him. I detest this administration and the cartoon squad of idiots who can't do anything right, even the things I agree with. However, Biden was elected in response to Trump - saying anything else is disingenuous.

IMO it should have been Anthony Fauci - who has become a household name and is very much an ACTUAL "thought-leader", in that millions of people look to him for guidance.

What about one of the researchers who developed the COVID vaccine?

Agree with this completely.

What I find odd is that two people are "Person of the Year." Shouldn't it be "People of the Year?" Or just pick Biden instead of both?

Not having it be the COVID vaccines makes this a farce - which is has been for a long time now.

At this point, they might as well have had scooter flip him end over end down the stairs so we get this charade over with.

While I would have preferred a first responder/vaccine creator, this isn't unprecedented or farcical. I mean, Time has chosen the winner of the election as their Person of the Year for the last 20 years straight. Why do we all care about this so much?

These are the same kind of self-fellating lefties that gave Barack a Nobel Peace Prize for being a breathing black man while he simultaneously dropped bombs on weddings and hospitals in nations that it turns out we were lied to about in the first place. He peacefully brought back open air slave markets to Libya, how are you NOT excited about all that great Obama-era foreign policy that's going to be brought back in spades under B&H? It's not like Biden just announced a Raytheon board member to be his Secretary of Defense, it's a historic first time appointment of a black man to that office you bigot. It doesn't matter that his Chief of Staff is going to be one of the key architects of the Iran Nuclear Deal, which gave billions of US tax dollars to the single largest government sponsor of terrorism in the world while doing nothing but slightly stall them from developing nuclear arms. Pay no heed to what goes on overseas citizens, it doesn't matter that this was the first 4 year stint since Carter the US didn't start a new armed conflict to keep feeding the war machine. It's Republican propaganda that we're having record peace in the Middle East, with 3 record peace agreements establishing relationships between Israel and various Arab states.

The orange man is bad, says mean things, CNN told me he's never denounced white supremacy and is LGBTQQIA7@&%-phobic. We should all be thankful things are going to go back to normal. Now let's go back inside, collect our government credits, and get back to ordering some meal-replacement slushy bags from Amazon while we kick back to watch some hate speech and microaggression-free Netflix. What's on today? Close Ups of Muslim Preteen Minority Children Twerking... sounds diverse, feminist, and sexually empowering! So glad we're no longer patriarchic wage slaves since the Great Reset remodeled capitalism.  It's too bad we can't go outside, but I realize it's not safe with that pesky virus going around. Did you hear it has a >0.0001% chance of killing you? Scary shit my fellow ungendered humanoid. At least we're safe...

I intentionally went over the top with it towards the end to have some fun, would've thought the 1984 quote made it obvious. Clearly some people disagree with my humor, that's ok though.

In terms of the OP I still think it's idiotic that Biden & Harris get the award when they've done nothing this year besides campaign. A much better option would've been frontline medical workers and other COVID responders in my opinion.

Triggered much?

Times Person of the Year is someone who's been very impactful that year, not someone who did the most good.

Hitler and Stalin were Persons of the Year.

Charles de Gaulle, Khrushchev,  Nixon, Kissenger, Khomeini, Gorbachev, and  George Bush were all Persons of the Year.. (All highly controversial people)

There's no good vs. evil. People are complicated.

The orange man is bad, says mean things,

What a dumb f'n simplistic view of the opposing political party. Trump is trying to engineer a bloodless coup and a sizeable chunk of Congress has signed on to the effort to throw out four states' electoral votes, just cause they voted for the other guy. Yeah, I'd say the orange guy is bad! Maybe level set where you should be focusing your outrage.

what u said is so true - think about what high school history classes will say about this bullshit 200 years from...the same things our high school history classes say about germans who actually believed jews were the source of their issue "How could they believe something so ridiculous" people are fucking stupid as shit theres just no denying that

theres no point in even getting pissed about it every generation has its own form of generalized social retardation

Well, PrivateTechquity, that's certainly something alright

Maybe log off for a while. Yikes.

Go start another thread about how an uptick in the number of posts you politically disagree with is a signal of decline in WallStreetOasis.

You can quite literally look up threads that I've started. Notably, none of them have anything to do with "an uptick in the number of posts you politically disagree with is a signal of decline in WallStreetOasis" Only one of them has ever been about politics, period.

haha this guy "cre" is a beast have to give credit where its due

should do PR for biden and by extension china

I think runner ups would be:

the Front liners and vaccine researchers (but not sure when Time named such a big group vs individuals - I think if we had Mission Accomplished in 2021 regarding the virus, then highly consider this)

can’t think of anyone else more deserving, like him or not.  After all Biden went from comeback in a crowded primary to taking the granddaddy of it all and changed the course of history.

doesn’t seem like there was anybody else more influential by a huge magnitude in 2020

Greta - not really

Vindiman - not really

Pelosi - not really

Rudy - not really

Xi - not really

Nobody else comes to mind

Honestly, should've been COVID responders.

Don't get me wrong, Biden and Harris winning the election is indeed very impactful and will likely change the course of history in some way. Not to mention that Harris is the first woman of color to rise to the 2nd highest position in the Executive Branch (Not her fan but it does send a very big signal to the world).

I just don't think they were as impactful as people who worked their asses off for months fighting the pandemic.
