Johns Hopkins, UChicago or Middlebury

I am a rising senior who is going to be a recruited athlete. I have offers from these school and want to know how well they are regarded for finance. In the future I want to work on Wall Street in IB. Which school is best for that?

UChicago gives you the best shot at it.

But remember that there's more to the choice than the first job after college. UChicago is supposed to be a tough school to get good grades at, and you'll be an athlete. Keep in mind that different schools have different cultures and different social scenes. I'm not saying that your decision should be made purely on the basis of that sort of thing, but definitely keep it in mind.

I had a few friends there. It's definitely a tough school, but people can coast by if they choose easy majors like poly sci. Pick UChicago

all great choices. I would choose which team and which coach you like the best, as that will be crucial to your college experience. if you want IB from any of those schools, you can get IB. But if the coach hates you and your teammates are wack, college will blow

UChicago > JHU > Middlebury Three reasons: 1. Chicago is prestigious - you will get an Ivy League level education (if you can survive it) 2. JHU is a Med/Biomed school 3. Middlebury is not nearly as prestigious in terms of education

UChicago or Midd...comes down to if you would rather live in the middle of nowhere or the middle of a city. Also, the athlete experience may be tremendous at Midd and you can definitely place into banking afterwards.

I second this. Midd has an alumni presence at all the BB banks. Biggest are GS and MS by far. But most visit campus with exception of JPM. Athlete culture at midd is real too. Very D1 vibe on campus.

The COO at GS and the head of ISG (front office) at MS are midd alums too.

Just have to decide city vs rural, close knit environment. I also think JHU is more focused on science / medicine than finance.

You can get into IB from all three and I would definitely base your decision more on which school you like better. The campus life at Chicago and Hopkins (urban university) vs. Middlebury (rural LAC) is going to be totally different, and you’re going to be living there for 4 years so it’s a lot more important to find the best fit.

U Chicago will be the easiest from an on campus recruiting and target school perspective, but it’s not a very fun school to be at.

Midd has solid representation across Wall Street. A number of the Weinbergs have gone there FYI and the alumni network is extremely strong / willing to help out. You’ll just need to be a bit more proactive about networking vs OCR.

JHU is ok. Good representation at a few banks but reputation is much stronger for science / medicine vs. finance.
