JP Freshman Summer Analyst interview
I am a freshman with very limited background in banking/finance/economics. I've taken micro and macro and that's about it (I am likely going to be a Philosophy/Religion double major if that gives you any indication of the kind of coursework I have been doing). I applied for the summer analyst position for freshmen/sophomores and I have an interview this week...any suggestions or warnings? I am pretty anxious about being unprepared academically...
Talk about Kant and Aristotle and maybe Mill! :)
If your major comes up have something to say about how that can benefit you in business and definitely express interest in business. If you are smart and social you should be fine.
I will certainly keep that in mind, thank you! Also--will they expect me to answer technical questions even though I do not emphasize technical experience on my resume? And I've spoken to several friends who are seniors/recent grads and have i-banking experience and they seem pretty doubtful that freshmen actually get hired; is their perception pretty accurate?
the less people like you apply, the better it is for the people that have been preparing (and who deserve to be there!) themselves to be there (Econ, Finance, Fin.Engineering, etc.).
Im not hating on you, but I just dont see why people like you should apply, unless its mid-office or back-office. If so, I retract what I have said :)
I'm applying because I am genuinely interested in developing a banking-related career. Majoring in Economics or Finance does not necessarily make you the best candidate for a money-related job. I think any student who works hard, sets goals, and figures out how to achieve them deserves an opportunity to interview for such a coveted position.
Needless to say, I'll see you on Wall Street.
