JP Morgan or Goldman Sachs ?
So I just got accepted to JP Morgan summer tech analyst program and I have an interview with Goldman Sachs next week. Do you guys think I should go forward with the Goldman interview, is their program better than JP's or no?
You may as well go for it and look at your options. I'm not sure about tech, but in IBD/S&T/ER the return offer rate is traditionally higher at JPM.
The only problem that I have is that Goldman Sachs is only doing a phone screen tomorrow. Which means that if I do happen to do OK on the phone screen, I would have to wait to get invited to the final round... JP Morgan has only given me 2 weeks to respond.
If you really want GS, I would ask them to see if they could expedite the process. Otherwise, just go with JPM. They're on the same tier, anyway, and JPM is a great place to work.
Which one do you think would look better on my resume ?
the goldman sacks
Depends on the group..
There's nothing wrong with replying to the JPM offer the day before/the day of the deadline. Tell Goldman that you have an offer that expires in 2 weeks and if they could expedite the process for you.
So should I tell that to the interviewer before I start the interview ? or would that sound rude... ?
They might ask you in the interview, but if the interviewer doesn't, just send an email to your HR contact saying something like "really enjoyed speaking with X for my interview today, I'm very interested in the opportunity at Goldman, but just so you know, I have an offer that expires on February 27th, so I'd really appreciate it if you could expedite my interview process so I can make an informed decision"
If the interviewer is an HR person and not someone with a job similar to the one you're interviewing for, I think you can just bring it up on the phone towards the interview if they ask if you have any questions or something similar.
Expedite the process with GS. The technology department there is AMAZING. You would really want to be there, especially now. No other firm has a tech division like Goldman Sachs.
In fact, soon GS will start outsourcing their technology out to other firms. DO IT!
So given that I told the phone interviewer that I had another offer is it necessary that when I get my onsite interview that I have to tell them again ?... I do know that i'll probably will be interviewing with multiple people so would it be redundant that I tell it to every interviewer ?
Only bring it up if asked in interviews. If there's a new HR contact person for the superday, you can mention it in your email to them when you thank them at the end of the day (say something similar to what you told them earlier).
I've decided to go with JP regardless of what the decision is in GS. By far these were the most arrogant and condescending interviewers I've ever had to deal with.
"By far these were the most arrogant and condescending interviewers I've ever had to deal with". Goldlamn sacks are arrogant sobs, what a surprise. Better choice.
I decided to go with JP Morgan for the same reason. Even though GS has a great Tech Program, you would be more appreciated at JP.
