So they're actually doing well as an office (solid mkt share and growing), but the exits, especially from the coverage team, are actually pretty subpar. There's a pretty clear split between the work you do in the M&A and coverage team and the good exits almost always go to the M&A team.

I've also heard mixed things about the culture for coverage, but I know the M&A team has horrendous hours.

Know a few people in the SF office and culture has definitely gotten better. Prior to 2018, almost all of the analysts would leave in their first year.

Also, now analysts get free snacks and drinks in the office because before, they didn't even get a $25 reimbursement after 12am. Dress code is relaxed and analysts can come in later than 10am.

Even then though, it is still JPM and they are always trying to be the underdog and get the mandates over GS and MS. This means you'll have senior people staying late into the night for some important pitches.

CS exits are better for pe. They occasionally send people to tpg/silver lake/kkr
