JPMorgan Investment Banking Networking Event

Hey guys,

There is a JPMorgan Investment Banking networking event coming up in couple of weeks for undergraduates. You get to network with various professionals, attend workshops, shadow blahblahblah. Any finance student would be all over it EXCEPT it's for LGBT (lesbians gays bisexuals transsexuals) students. Given the crappy economy, I want to take advantage of any networking event, especially since I'm trying to break into the IB field. I've had two front office internships & attended quite a few networking events so I'm not new to this. But, being a straight male, do you think I should pass off as a bisexual just for the sake of networking or will it bite me in the ass sooner or later? What would you do? Also, if you are one of the professionals at the event & meet a 'homosexual' student but then he/she tells you that their straight & really want to pursue IB so attended the event, would you find that commendable or pathetic?

Thanks!

Every once in a while, someone takes advantage of this loophole, and the caveat is that they are usually very public about things. If you don't ming people thinking you're gay, then go for it. Just transfer to another company after a while, and you've beat the system.

Let us know how you do.....

If you don't mind being "out" about it, go ahead. If you do though, I would advise against it. It doesn't really help anyways. It's no different from any other campus networking event where you say a couple words to a banker, and then they move on. More of a chance to mess up than to actually help yourself, imo.

Just trying to be opportunistic! Well I've looked at the list of people attending the event, & honestly it seems as if half of them aren't even LGBT. You could clearly see their heterosexual by their Facebook.
But thanks for all the advice!
