This position is based in NY. Did anyone hear about this internship before? What is the compensation like?
Yes, this is an internship most comparable to a gig at Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, or any other wirehouse. Compensation should in the $10-20 per hour range.
So I should expect this internship as no difference to some regional branches in ML and MSSB? And i should not consider myself as a "PWM SA"? lol
I can't say that for sure, but by looking at the job description I would say yes. Spinning it as a PWM SA would be a bit of a stretch, but if you are only a sophomore you would have the chance to open some doors and make it a PWM SA for your junior year!

Does anybody know exactly what the JP Morgan Securities llc does? Is it PWM, Asset Management, something else? I searched and couldn't find anything conclusive
Thanks
Is it just S&T?
I could be wrong, but I think it houses their Prime Brokerage business. Perhaps PWM as well.
I think JWR34 is right but i'm not 100% sure.
JPM Securities is heritage Bear Stearns PWM. JPM has their own PB/PWM, but the business model is vastly different than heritage Bear Stearns PWM (intergrated team vs. old school brokers). Bear PWM brokers did not want to change to how JPM did business and since the bear brokers were highly successful (and brought in a nice chunck of revenue), JPM management decided to not mess with what isn't broken.
thanks guys
JPM Securities LLC is the broker dealer / futures merchant of the holdco. They house the trading, investment banking, brokerage etc.
How do you view JP Morgan Securities in New York? (Originally Posted: 10/11/2014)
The one on Park Avenue? Is working there good enough to get into a top MSF/MFE program?
No, you'll never amount to anything if you work there.
I worked in that building, it's aight.

Can anyone briefly go over the differences between the two?
What are JPM's strengths? Anyone know what their PWM analyst program is like?
Any help would be appreciated.
One is PWM under Asset Management. The other is S&T.
Strengths--culture, leadership, balance sheet, growth....lets put it this way, can you really find something that they are bad at?
Ok, but what about the analyst program? Do they only take from recent college grads or can you enter as a lateral hire? What exactly do they do in comparison to wirehouses like MSSB or BofA/ML? Are there teams or are people more analytical and doing more research for the firm?
Not exactly sure what you are asking? If your still in school then you enter an analyst program---they would be separate programs. You can lateral hire into them if they are looking for people/you have a contact.

If you have a question about a particular product, you should search this site.
Thank you
Also, is there a securities division within Asset Management?
