Jumping to the front office

Hi all,

First of all, I want to outline my plan (if all goes well) so you may get a solid understanding of my aspirations. I want to get a front office position at a great firm (preferably an IBank), spend a few years there, and go to a top 10 MBA. Though there are many different paths to success, this is one I have my heart on for the time being.

That said, I was recommended by a fellow alumnus to check this place out and I have a question that's been on my mind. Currently I am a SA for an IBank west of NYC in the back offices. My hope is to eventually transition into a front office position, which is an option for a SA in the firm but incredibly hard to get once full time offers are given at the end of the summer.

What sorts of tips might you all have for me as far as leveraging my current situation or working other options via networking? I don't come from an impressive school but many alumni have made it big in NYC, which is where I want to go.

Overall, a front office position will be most interesting to me I think and one in NYC will be perfect for helping me get into a top 10 business school from what many have told me. What are your thoughts? I am curious to see what you think. Thank you.
