As an Analyst or Associate, what style dress shirt should one be wearing?
Is it acceptable to wear lightly striped/patterned dress shirts such as:

They are all fine pattern wise, but wearing a button-down with a tie is a big no-no, don't do it.

"no ties with buttoned-down collars" is good general advice, especially in Europe (where it's the equivalent of stenciling "I'm an American" on your forehead.)
That said, it's fine in some firms, and didn't get in the way of this guy's career:

so are you saying it's more effective to stencil 'i'm an american' on your forehead? i mean if i can't conceal carry a gun i'm not sure what else to do.

less weight given to this than you think. you need to look presentable, after that nobody is going to notice.
beyond the clothes, people are going to assign more weight on if your a fatass. don't be fat or have some visible tattoos.
obviously don't get cheap stuff, but as in eveything in life buy quality & go for comfort #1

TM lewin is a good looking shirt(sleeves run small) but practically see through. I should not be able to see the color of your areolas.
Agree that TM Lewin is good if you find Brooks Brothers Milano too baggy at the waist. Less well-known in the US, they're expanding rapidly so you will probably see introductory offers for $29 if you Google a competitor.
They've had a Super Fitted cut for years, which probably inspired Charles Tyrwhitt's launch of Super Slim fit earlier this year.
If you have a problem with see-through, look for shirts with thicker twill or herringbone weaves from either Lewin or Tyrwhitt.

patterns are just to shake things up a bit and to show a bit of personality. that said, I'd look at mizzen+main (see the thread on 'performance shirts on the fashion page). These are pretty cool/unique but classic patterns IMO.
make sure you look presentable and put together - after that ensure you are comfortable and buying quality.
Those shirts are all fine.
Think the advice in this thread about "No pockets" etc. is a little over the top. Outside of well-known dress taboos (no brown suits, no tie on a button collar, etc.) you can't live your life wondering whether someone is going to judge you for your fashion choices.
That said, in terms of what is most popular nowadays, I'd say plain or finely textured/patterned button downs in muted colors with a spread collar, no front pocket is where the street is at nowadays in the States.

Brooks Brothers is tried and true. I like Bonobos's dress shirts as well. White is always welcome and appropriate for any occasion. If you've just got a few navy / dark grey suits, I'd honestly only get white. Just make sure to keep them lightly starched and dry cleaned. Nothing's worse than a wrinkled and dirty white dress shirt.
White is great, unless you are an uncouth, sweaty slob like me. White stains too easily and shows collar stains. I’d ruin a shirt after ~5 wears in the NYC summer.
