Junior year summer plans

Is it better to get a real paid internship for my junior year summer with a company not directly related to the industry, such as Visa or Capital One, or to pay my way into a role at a boutique via a program like the analyst exchange or university of dreams? I got some interviews at top BBs but I seem to be a poor/below average interviewer. I'm interested mainly in FT S&T, and I'm not entirely certain how much direct industry experience plays a part in the FT hiring senior year.

Any opinions would be helpful, thanks.

Hmm... you can try to leverage your alumni network so you can maybe work unpaid at a boutique/MM (it's better than paying to work, right?) From what I know, University of Dreams places you in PWM in exchange for 6000K+, so I'd highly discourage that route.

Pay for an internship, that is a new concept to me. Go work at VISA, then work your tail off for a FT offer. There are a lot more FT offers given to non-SA candidates than you would think. Not getting a SA gig is not the end of the world.
