Just curious about expense accts
I know this may seem presumptious as I will only be interviewing for SA positions this spring, but just out of curiousity, what type of expense accounts do salesmen and traders get?

traders don't really have expense accounts, except when you travel for work. generally that's hotel, airfare covered (obviously) and a per diem for food based on where you are. i think it'd be 100 bux a day in NYC and 100 pounds in london or so.
salesmen, when they take custies out, it's kind of like "don't be stupid" i think. and it depends on the account...big account, you can definitely go to places that will cost say $500 a head for dinner/drinks. am benchmarking a bit of my broker's expense accounts b/c i think that's comparable.
Cool, thanks Jimbo.
sure..... in general if you go out with customer's it's never to lousy places. in general, when we go out for dinner you're looking at 100-200 a head...have done the 400-500 thing a few times...and then afterwards depends on how aggressive the night gets.
Wow, the company pays for after dinner expenses too?
Out of that $500 per head, only about $75-100 will actually go towards food.
This why these types of dinners can be really enjoyable regardless of who is attending...

depends....some of the sushi places can easily be in 300+ range. last time at kuruma the food was easily 350 a person.
multiple course meals could be upwards of 300? Per se is $250 without wine.
Haven't yet attended a full-out dinner with higher-ups at a sushi restaurant, but I could easily see the over-ordering of the most expensive items adding up to a substantial tab. Seems to be a very consistent steakhouse theme for most of my dinners with senior folks.
On my own dime, I've never spent more than ~$150 per capita on the food portion of a sushi dinner, though I've certainly gone north of this figure once drinks are included.

Go to kuruma zushi (best suhi in nyc, imho), get the omakase, and you're easily looking at $300 a head. you dont have to try that hard. few bottles of sake start flying around and you're there. masa is prix fixe at 500 i think.
nippon is way better
masa is $400 now possibly because not enough people go there. food is just food, it can only be "so" great and worth "so" much, imo, especially when the quantity is just so freaking little.
I searched for highest price 5-star restaurants on new york mag and the only two that showed up were masa and le bernardin. I would love to try le bernardin a french seafood place.
But yeah, even if I had the money which I don't, I would only go there if someone else paid...

with sales, i'd think so. brokers, definitely.
one guy at this HF i worked at told me he got fired from credit suisse after taking a client out to dinner and then to scores. he said they racked up like a $1500 tab at scores. funny story though.
