Just realized I want to do banking and haven’t started networking. How behind am I?

I just realized I want to banking and have yet to start any networking. I’m a sophomore at a semi-target and have seriously started technicals this week. Do I stand a chance if I start networking or did I completely screw my self over by not realizing sooner? Who should I be targeting at this point and how should I be networking. I really want this (I just wish I realized sooner!)

Depends on how many banks have finished recruiting at your university and also the ones that you are interested in (have they started/finished recruiting?).

On a side note, if you are really interested, you don't have anything to lose right? The fact that you didn't network is in the past. what matters is what you do now. I would suggest forget the past and start networking now. Be aggressive in networking but respectful at the same time. As an anecdotal comment, I am also recruiting for SA 2021 and I started networking about a month ago and I have started reaping positive rewards now (Non-target here).

Also sophomore here. I'm at non-target and I started networking earlier than my friends. Honestly, this networking stuff works to a certain extent. In terms of timing, you're fine, most apps don't even start till much later (summer).

Most BBs; BAML, Credit Suisse (my interview is late April, early May but keep in mind I'm diversity so they go really early for us), Barclays, Goldman, Morgan Stanley, JPM. Most EBs are taking apps but do not start till later. Just network friend, you will be fine, especially since you're at semi-target. :)
