KPMG Deal Advisory Case Interview

Guys,

The application procedure for KPMG's Deal Advisory Rotation Program (M&A, TS, Restructuring, Valuation, Debt Advisory) constists of (1) CV/cover letter, (2) online tests, (3) interview with recruiter and manager, and (4) superday. I'm having my superday later this week, which consists of:

  • 3 interviews with mid-level executives
  • 2 hours to prepare a presentation on a case
  • 1,5 hours of case presentation
  • 2 partner interviews

They've sent me an Information Memorandum on a company that I could use to prepare for the case. I'll get additional information during the 2 hours you get on the specific day, and no info is given on what the case is going to be about (trying to sell the company, market dynamics incentivizing you to change strategy, ..., could basically be anything).

Anyone who has experience with this? What can I do besides reading the IM?

Thanks, in advance,
Pauluske

Given that it is a rotation into each of the above mentioned departments, the interview could possibly cover a range of different topics, each relevant for the particular service line:

TS (FDD): focus on Net debt, WC, adjusting EBITDA, key drivers of margins etc Valuation: PPA, intangibles valuation etc M&A: DCFs, multiples, industry analysis, competitor landscape etc Restructuring: analyze reason for decline in business, ways to improve performance, possibly short-term cash flow projections (13-week CF), maybe something more on the legal side of the restructuring proceedings (US would be chapter 11, 7 etc, not sure what the dutch equivalent would be) Debt Advisory: understanding a company's capital structure etc.
