L Catterton, New Mountain Capital, Charlesbank
Anybody here have firsthand knowledge of these places?
Wondering what the people are like, the apps process, how they're perceived prestige-wise. Seem like good back-ups.

Career Resources
Charlesbank only seems to recruit associates from MBB consulting it seems.
Curious about L Catterton as well
They're good first options.
My perception is that New Mountain Capital is a cut above the other two. And Catterton has a C&R focus. So comparing them all is not exactly apples-to-apples.
New mountain just closed a big ass fund ($6.15bn), limited performance data i could find on past funds but thats a big upsize over the $5bn target and the previous $4.1bn fund in 2014. Catterton's recent fund is about half that size if you include the growth equity component, but i think theyre probably one of the best known consumer funds out there.
Never heard of charlesbank but first take is fund size pretty comparable. hiring consultants only would suggest lower comp (otherwise not sure why they would do this)
Opus used to cover L Catterton (not sure who covers them now), CPI covers New Mountain
New Mountain would be a first choice I'm pretty sure, and L Catterton as well if you want to do c&R
