Landing IB analyst role post graduation with only part time PE internship?
I recently graduated from a target university with an econ degree and am currently looking to land an IB analyst position, but I'm not sure how feasible it is given my lack of a full time summer analyst internship and lackluster 3.26 GPA. I have, however, worked as an unpaid analyst intern (essentially a trainee underneath the MD) at a small PE firm for the past 5 months, developing skills such as financial modeling, presenting, etc. I've also taken online courses that cover financial accounting and modeling to further my skills.
Is there any realistic possibility of landing an boutique IB position? Am I better off starting work in another full time position (I have an offer for a non-finance role) and shoot for a top 10 MBA sometime in the future? I'd like to continue job searching/networking like its my full time job, but I have yet to see a bank that hires analysts without a full time summer internship. Any tips on what else I could be doing to improve my chances besides networking / cold contacting like crazy? I've had a few phone conversations, but no formal interviews. I've also tried to meet in person (I live in a city with a significant financial district).
