Large DL/Mezz Fund to PE?

I currently work at a large DL firm (think Ares/GSO/GS Special Sits) in London. The mandate is extremely flexible going from vanilla 1L all the way to non-controlling equity stakes, with most deals falling in the mezz range. The job is really engaging but for personal reasons I am looking to make a move back to Canada. I am in the 4 yr experience range (with ~1.5yrs at a large asset manager doing primarily 1l/unitranche, and the rest in the current role). I was interested in making a move eventually to PE anyway (philosophical I just prefer this type of investing), but the fact that options are relatively limited to make a comparable move on the debt side in Canada make this question even more pertinent. I am curious if anyone has any insight as to how difficult this will be to do in my particular situation? I am hoping that the brand value and flexible investment mandate, as well as having some international exposure, might make me competitive for PE in Canada.
