Nah lol its only two years. I will be graduatin
oh fr, not gonna lie i thought everyone in finance does the standard 18-22 in university so i was feeling kinda lonely lol. Glad to see an older grad
I was 27 when I first started working, albeit at a boutique. You are not alone, good sir. Keep on keeping on.
of course 24 is NOT too late...you can probably go into your early 30's and still start in IB. If you are in your early 40's....that might be to old.
is this sarcastic or are you being serious?
i'm being serious...your age is not the limiting factor.
your education however, will be a limiting factor. you will be competing against grads from very good schools, who most all got 3.6 GPA and above...so A- avg grades.
so, how do you compete against that?
1) You get a 4.0 at whatever school you goto 2) And then you network with lower tier firms. Middle market and below.
there are many good threads with "how to network" on this site...i suggest you search for them.
Hi leonardo dicaprisun , No you are not! Graduating and settling is life is a lot more different! Try focusing on making your life better instead of thinking about past.
Wholesome comment, thanks king
Your school and GPA should be your bigger worry.
4.0 Semi target, 19 right now as a sophomore but I have to have surgery twice so thats why i will graduate late
Literally nothing to worry about, unless your surgeries can have debilitating impact on your ability to perform. You can easily spin your story to something like coming out with strong academic performance despite surgeries and present yourself as having more maturity than other candidates.

Okay great, kinda nervous how to spin it but i think i can find something in the end

You’re good
Actually, you can make this work in your favour. Talk about fighting back from surgery and how that shows you can overcome obstacles. I know a guy who started as a first year analyst at 28 so for sure not too late.
I have severe central sleep apnea, fit, and eat healthy.
But due to genetics I got it at an early age. After high school I entered college and during my first year I became very tired and would sleep all day long and forget things easily. Simple math was very difficult, reading was not possible. My grades dropped from a 3.8 GPA average to a 2.0 GPA (15 credits all C's) average (my last term before I hung everything up for quits).
So I went in to the doctor, they ran some tests, nothing... nothing at all. Echo, EKG, labs... everything. 2 years later finally found out it was sleep apnea and my brain was telling my body not to breathe when I was sleeping.
3 Years passed and I am back in college finishing my degree. I am 22 now with 2 years left. So I am in exactly the same position as you. Nothing you can do, nothing I could do. It makes me feel bad that I wasted 2 and a half years because I was sick.
My goal isn't IB since that would be impossible since I still have some issues with sleep and in high hours environment I won't do well. But I am wanting to try other areas most of which I am more looking forward to. I will say I am not afraid to work weekends. Just I can't pull 10-12 hour days like others.
You're in the early innings of life. Make a goal, figure out how to get there, stay on track, attain your goal
