Lateral Interviews - technical vs. non-technical?
Curious what others have experienced in lateral interviews. I have heard from some that these are almost all fit based, and from others that it can be more technical than entry. If someone is coming with previous banking experience, does team stress fit more? or technicals expecting the analyst to be up and running fast?

Bank and group-dependent, of course. Anecdotally, technical conversations relate to deal experience and can become a bit of a black hole during the interview itself. The interviewer might decide to focus on a particular wrinkle of the transaction being discussed and then follow-up with various "what ifs" related to financing, valuation, accounting and/or diligence. Technical competency is still assessed in lateral interviews; however, bankers seem to have more creative leeway in determining the interviewee's capabilities.
would you be able to PM me?
So it's safe to assume that the conversation would drift to more typical questions if there's a lack of live deal experience?
