Lateraling Already?
Current 1st year analyst (4 months in) at a mid-tier BB (Citi/BAML) in a very niche group (FIG/RE) and am unhappy with the general culture of the bank and my group. The hours aren't the issue but rather the people in the group. Essentially feel like there's no reason to stay - not interested in the industry and culture is bad. I am fine with working the long hours.
Is it too early to try to lateral? I interned in a different group as an intern, would it look bad that I switched groups already and am also trying to lateral?
No - not too early. Be prepared to get asked why switch group in FT and don't bad mouth your current group.
You think it’s ok to lateral after only a few months on the job?
Yeah it's Citi
What’s up with the general culture at Citi?
Bad culture + niche group = Citi FIG
this
If this is Citi FIG I would not be surprised, all the analysts from my school have left in the past year and both of the SA there FT recruited elsewhere.
Can anyone speak to their culture?
Currently at a BB. We just hired 3 class of 2021 analyst laterals. I would’ve never had the balls to lateral that early but it’s becoming the norm / feasible
Is this upper tier BB?
how many months of experience did they have? like 3?
How many banks are recruiting for analysts this early into their stint? Also, what's the conversation like with your current group when you leave?
In doloribus nisi officiis ab est soluta. Omnis eum ad id earum tenetur saepe repellat. Molestias corporis velit debitis similique ut.
