law degree, no job, NYC/DC?

Graduating Law school in May and taking NY Bar July 27-28. I don't have a job lined up (surprise) and am looking to move to either NYC or DC after graduation. My preference is NYC but special lady friend wants DC. My question is that if I am looking for non-traditional employment that a law degree with a concentration in finance transactions - where do I look in DC? Any specific resources?

Luckily I only have $70,000 of debt from undergrad and law school so I'm not totally up the creek but still it would be nice to find something. Thanks for your help -- good day to you ladies and gentlemen!

Insurance companies?

bankruptcy related claims agent ... i.e. Kurtzman Carson Consultants, Donlin Recano, Garden City Group..

i've worked with a few of them and a lot of them have law backgrounds (not all are bankruptcy/corporate law, some are real estate, civil, etc.)

------------ I'm making it up as I go along.

Just an idea for you... I work at a start-up and we hired a '09 Law school grad about 5 months ago who just passed the NY Bar to be our In-house counsel. The position didnt pay, but he received a fair share of company equity, and some very decent experience for his resume. He recently got an offer from a NYC law firm because of his experience at our start-up.

So this is just one example.

Megalodon,

I got involved with it about a year after graduation. I realized that this would be the best time to take a risk and work at a start-up since I can always get an MBA afterwords and get another shot at recruiting. It really is a very interesting and unique opportunity. Crains NY Business interviewed me last week for an article on our company, which is definitely pretty exciting! Feel free to PM me if you want to talk further. (so as not to thread-jack)
