Lax Rundown: Quaterfinal Weekend

Since the fall of Lax brah havens such as Lehman and Bear, lax's dominance has diminished on WS. But here's a quick rundown on the weekend events so you can impress your hold over dbag burn out prep school lax brah VP on Monday w/ some WASP'y lax knowledge. Here we go:

UVA over CUNY - Cornell (joking, lighten up ha)

A lot of question marks over whether UVA would have the firepower to topple Rob Parnell and the brah's from Ithica w/ the absence of the Braton bro's dynamic dogging and d1 Fball level athletic ability. Big surprise, UVA's 3rd stringers by themselves would still be a top 10 team and next level lax IQ from Steele Stanwick, Bocklet, and the rest of the show stoppers from Arlington easily navigated a win with strong showing in goaltending and dominance at X from their FOGO/face-off unit. Fun team to watch when they can keep from plundering/pillaging and more importantly not being black out drunk. Good win.

DU Pioneers over JHU

This game was close to my heart as being involved w/ CO lacrosse for over 15 years and believe Tierney's dedication to our bumble fuck state's lacrosse scene, more importantly lacrosse outside of the ET zone will usher in a new area of growth of the sport at all levels.

Nough w/ the touchy feely shit, DU has one of the most savvy, dynamic, and Swayze (crucial lax term, use it this week) I've every seen. Todd Baxter is playing some next level lacrosse, needs to be in the hunt for the Tewaaraton Trophy (lax equivalent of the Heismen). Between Baxter and Cam Flin totally disected a confused JHU team. JHU, like Villanova and the rest of the lacrosse world, have totally discredited this team and played for it on Saturday by looking like a bunch of jabroni's from nowhere lacrosse area. Irony perhaps? Look for this team to give UVA a hellava game, and will absolutely be playing memorial day weekend if they don't learn from JHU's apathy.

Terps over Cuse'

Not a huge shocker here. Maryland is the only other program IMHO opinion right now that has the speed and savy'ness to match DU. This is a lacrosse players team no doubt. Frustration from years of early exit from the tourny are working itself out for this team and new head coach John Tillman via Harvard is the Jim Harbaugh of college men's lacrosse, moha fucka even looks like him. Didn't get to watch this game to a miserable comp spreading sesh w/ full blown layover drunken'ness/onsetting hangover from last night so make sure to brush up on the sum recap on ESPNU.com and more importantly the nastiest ol' fake ball trick from the curb stopping of UNC. Good shit.

Duke over ND

Caught the back half of this game today. No big surprises, similar match to last years slug/yawn fest at the nat. championship game. Duke is just very Duke'y, and only ever seem to be fun to watch when they play UVA or UNC. ND was struggling all day w/ the time of possession battle. And despite a strong showing at face-off, couldn't seem to translate into a grounded offensive showing. ND's shooting was poor, their top scorer (forget his name currently) was 0-15 and maybe got 60% of those shots on cage. Duke was just tossing around really and got bored at 4thQ and decided to put a couple in the back of the net and call it day.

Seeing as you'll likely have some overly proud Duke grads around, Justin Turri netted 2 goals and in typical Duke fashion had distributed goal scoring from the rest of their absurd recruiting class. Tough team to be a stand-out on some really a team win more than individual firepower. Boring game.

So overall great weekend of games, and should be a good base to help fit in w/ the laxy crowd on Monday. Didn't proof read, so post likely rife with spelling errors, but I'm lax brah so don't really give a fuck. Duece's.
