LBS MFA vs. NUS MSc Finance
Hello Everyone,
I need help in deciding between LBS Masters in Financial Analysis and National University of Singapore MSc Finance.
My goals:
Work in Asset Management/Investment Banking in Singapore.
I'm not so fond of working in London/Europe. I have strong preference for Singapore. Like I would consider London only if I can't make it to Singapore.
I have strong inclination towards LBS MFA because of the quality of education and the reputation. It's highly ranked and LBS has a strong brand value. NUS Mfin is not that known program. Does anyone know how well NUS Mfin places in IB and AM?
My only issue with LBS is that if I will be able to land a job I like after that (in Singapore). I'm an international student and with the ongoing Brexit thing, I assume getting a job in London has become very difficult. Getting a job in Singapore would be a bit more difficult if I study in London, so in the worst case scenario I will have to return to my home country (something which I don't want to happen at all).
Please help me in making this decision.
If you want to work in Singapore, local recruiters would probably value NUS as highly as LBS simply because if you work in a market with a strong B-school you tend to know the course and people quite well. What you need to think about is what course is structured better and which will have more tangible skills you want to take to a job. What I would consider (and this I don't now about, you have to investigate in LinkedIn or via networking) is which uni has the better rep across Asia in case you pivot from Singapore to say...Hong Kong, Shanghai or Tokyo.
Brexit will have almost 0 impact on you if you are non-EU because you'll have to go through the same type of immigration process you would have had to do before Brexit. This won't change so don't worry about this.
Ok. Thank you so much for your response.
Which school did you choose eventually?
Hi, I have been having a similar confusion. Just wanted to know what have you decided and what basis.
