Learning Fresh
Hey, newcomer here. I'm a recent graduate from the University of California, Davis, where I majored in Managerial Economics. I didn't become interested in finance, or anything until my last quarter where I took a course on investments, and one of future trading and options. I really enjoyed the market analysis(?) aspect in those classes, so that one of my reasons why I want to dive deeper.
Unfortunately, I didn't take too many finance courses during my time in school. And my resume is completely lacking. I only have retail experience, I did not join any clubs, or had any internships. So I'm having trouble finding work at the moment.
I think Equity Research is the direction I want to go in, but I'm only learning all of this now.
I have a friend who is an Financial Analyst, who recommended me to check out this site to get started.
There seems to just be so much information that it seems overwhelming, but it will at least keep me busy.
My excel skills are really lacking, so
In the mean time, I planning to
- brush up on my excel skills through the free modeling series offered by WSO
- learn VBA, vLooksUps, and practice more pivot tables
- and learn financial modeling through websites such as Macabacus, and ASimpleModel
Any help is appreciated; any readings, tips, personal stories are welcomed.
