Leaving a current internship for a better offer
How should you approach the situation where you have a current internship in Wealth Management but get an IB Offer? I am a sophomore and have an internship at MS in Wealth Management, but I am entering my business school this summer as a Junior Transfer (non Target to Target), and we do accelerated recruiting, and I feel like I might be missing out on an opportunity for accelerated IB Summer Internships.
Should I apply for them even though I have an internship that ends next Fall?
Also what kind of moral hazard should I have (or not have) when it comes to jumping ship prematurely for a better offer?
How would your current internship for this summer effect you doing accelerated recruiting for next summer?
It would hinder me from banks that have positions open for this summer. If I am working at MS now, I would not be able to get a job in the summer.
But aren't most banks hiring for next summer at this point, not this summer?

"Just tell them?" Lol they rely on me as a partof their team. I am just worried about being blacklisted from the bank..

I've been interning at my current company for about 1 week now, and I just received another offer. The new offer is for a summer analyst (M&A) position at a local investment bank, while my current position is a general business analyst intern. As a sophomore, I know that the IB internship will be far more valuable on my resume when I apply for 2019 internships, but I don't want to be a dick and leave after I've only been here for a week. My current job has an at-will employment contract, so I can legally leave without consequence. However, is it considered unprofessional/unethical to leave this soon?

Talk to your boss and maybe they will understand and let you go. Or maybe you could work out some kind of deal to work at both. If I were your boss, I’d let you go. It’s not like your contribution would be super meaningful and I’d be fucked without you.
