LevFin to Equity L/S fund

I am interested in exiting LevFin to a HF and am wondering if I am limited to only debt funds? Obviously debt is my specialty, but I think if you could analyze a company from a debt perspective then you can analyze it from an equity perspective. Also, it does help to understand the capital structure of a company when stock picking.

In theory nothing should prevent you from exiting to an equity fund from LevFin, although you'll need to have a good story and demonstrate you actually understand how to look at equities. Your stumbling block will be the latter because it is actually much different than looking at a debt investment. I suggest you stop patting yourself on the back for being a "smart credit guy", start reading blogs/VIC/SZ/SA to see how people frame equity investment theses, and start working on your stock pitches.
