Don't spend enough time on it to notice those people and it won't matter. LinkedIn is very effective for getting background info on people and/or making new business connections. Don't use it for anything beyond that and you won't have a problem.

This. Plus it's an online Rolodex.

I will say I cringe and quietly die a little inside when I see 20 something year old females list "Wife, mother, daughter, sister, visionary, influencer, connector, minivan driver, and cashier at a coffee shop" in their title.

My last two jobs I got through LinkedIn - that's the purpose of the platform so for me it's been damn near perfect. I don't really care about anything else on LinkedIn, it's all white noise that I ignore.

Funniest

That one dude with all the fake stories makes me laugh. It is usually something like: Was working at my startup with 5 employees.....investors pulled funding.....employee got pregnant.....gave her time off cus im a saint.....became homeless.....now my company generates millions in revenue.....always remember to just breathe.

Dayman?

I've also seen some people put up fake altruistic stories. For instance, someone posted that the person in front of them appeared to be having a bad day and then had their WIC card declined at the supermarket for cigarettes, snake cakes, and microwave meals. The loyal altruistic enlightener visionary influential connector single mamma then posts how they went ahead and paid it forward off her own EBT card. These stories are popping up more and more and I am now 96% sure they are fake crafted to get likes and connections on LinkedIn.
