Loans for international students (UK). Please help!!
I'm growing more and more desperate. I got my admission offer from a target university in the UK for a MSc in Finance. Full disclosure: I got decent scholarship amounts (university scholarships, grants, country specific scholarships etc) that eliminated ~60% of tuition. The remaining amount is mainly for deposits (which are pretty high, and my offer will be revoked without paying them on time). Other funds are for living costs obviously
Unfortunately, my country (unholy 3rd world) doesn't allow me to take loans for studying abroad. For some reason students who plan to go abroad are held in such crippling animosity here, and viewed as some kind of "traitors."
I am out of solutions. I tried to get a bank guarantee through a financial planner to get a regular loan, but no UK bank is accepting it. I tried future finance and they only give loans to residents (and mind you, I will need funds to get a student visa). Prodigy finance explicitly said they couldn't fund deposits or living costs. I tried everything, and I'm officially left with no hand. I'm starting to think I should just give up on my dreams, nothing will work. But I worked so hard to get here (passing CFA L1&2 in the 90th percentile, getting a GMAT score in the 97th percentile..etc).
Is there anything I can do? Any loan providers for international students?
Should I just give up?
Ahem.. anyone? 👀
Have you tried explaining all of this to the university?
I tried. But employees are familiar with the policies and have been enforcing them for decades. It's hard for them to conceptualise an anomaly in my case and thus try to tweak their protocols to find a solution - it's doubtful anyone has been in a similar position before. So really they dont have any solutions either
message me, it doesnt allow me to post the link here
Hope this is helpful: https://www.imperial.ac.uk/business-school/programmes/full-time-mba/fee…
Appreciate your help, unfortunately it contains everything I already looked up
man I feel soo bad for you. I was similar to you however I didn’t get any scholarships. Honestly all I can say it work alongside the Master’s and try to atleast pay off your first Master’s fees. Once your in, your kind of set and then the second one see if you can strike some type of a deal. Some Unis are more accepting that others but yeahh good luck man
I wouldn't have a problem with working and paying my bills. The problem lies in that the UK embassy won't grant me the visa (tier-4) unless I have a certain amount secured in my account
Even with family savings, the inflationary monetary outlook is so severe - local currency is nothing relative to £, making funds insufficient.
